Ray of Hope helps
organizations help young people and women.
It is dedicated to
strengthening the activities of children’s, youth and women’s organizations
in South Asia, Southeast Asia and around the world that provide protection and
care for those who are at risk of, or are victims of:
- trafficking
- child prostitution and forced sex work
- ‘gender aggression’
- domestic violence
- sexual abuse
- harmful labour and child labour
- HIV/AIDS and STIs
- segregation,
deprivation or abuse due to age, sex, race, caste, social class,
nationality, sexual preference, traditional occupation or religion
The objectives of Ray
of Hope are:
- to provide
organizations with training, resources, information and networking that will
help them conduct prevention, rehabilitation and social reintegration
activities, including counseling, crisis intervention, occupational
rehabilitation, and peer education;
- to conduct
innovative awareness-raising activities – particularly through
mobilization of the entertainment media – to ‘break the silence’ on
unspoken issues that are vital to the well-being of young people and women;
and
- to support the
collection of information and the mobilization of research which will assist
in the design, planning and implementation of interventions to protect and
care for young people and women.
